Extra Curricular Activities
Regents Park Community College offers the opportunity for young people to participate in a wide spectrum of diverse activities from learning a range of musical instruments, dance clubs, learning a community language such as Urdu, Punjabi or Gujarati, taking part in organised outdoor pursuits or participating in the many sports clubs including swimming club. Activities are organised throughout the year, taking place at the close of the timetabled day as part of our Clubs and Classes programme. Opportunities in Music, Drama, Dance and Sport are offered throughout the year. The college has an established musical tradition. All students are offered the opportunity to participate in the instrumental lesson programme which offers tuition on a wide range of instruments from harp to drums. The college has an orchestra, choir and range of bands. Recent years have seen the college receive an accolade of recognition for the quality of its dance through its winning Rock Challenge entries.
The college’s own radio station, Regents Park Live, broadcasts for an hour each Wednesday across the city and local community. The programming, contents and broadcasting is run by a trained team of students as part of their extra-curricular activities led by a member of the college’s staff.
The college has an established Deep Learning Day programme which forms an integral part of each student’s curriculum. This innovative programme of whole day themed study one day per two week timetable throughout the academic year supports students to develop their skills, knowledge and interests over a whole day studying in subject areas, in year groups and across year groups.
